Description
Domaine de la Foret-Gasselin, Sancerre, Loire | Yes, this is Sancerre, but it’s a small producer at a reasonable price, so I couldn’t help but slip it into this box. |
Laberinto Sauvignon Blanc, Valle del Maule, Chile | Chilean Sauvignon Blancs hit this wonderful middle ground between citrus and minerality with hints of floral. This crisp white may not be an exact doppelgänger, but if you love Sancerre, this is right up your alley. |
Domaine Durand Menetou-Salon Sauvignon Blanc, Loire | Small family-owned vineyard established in 1962. The region of Menetou-Salon is just west of Sancerre. A little farther away from the Loire River, this region is 1/5 the size of Sancerre but relatively unknown. The same highly prized chalky Kimmeridgian soil runs through both regions. Sancerre has always been focused on shipping their wines out with 2/3 being drunk outside of the region while Menetou-Salon consumes the vast majority of their own production. |
